Tumbling miniature bears had been manufactured by Schuco in Nürnberg approximately since 1921. The first ones were completely made from sheet metal and simply coated with felt clothes. Although they are only 10 cm small, their clockwork is very stable. The tumbling bear which you can see here, dates from about 1925, and he is able to tumble as if he was new.
