Saturday 22/05/2010 Brewins' Bruins National Teddy Bear Fair & The National Teddy Bear Artists' Awards – Lyndhurst – UK An exciting new venture is taking place on 22nd May 2010 in Minstead Hall at the edge of the New Forest. Brewins’ Bruins, the organizers of the event, chose this venue as it is within easy reach of the M27 motorway. The venue will accommodate up to 40 exhibitors while the stage will be devoted to competition entries. This promises to be something of a visual feast with vintage and artists’ bears for sale. Some competition entries will be available for purchase during the Fair. Many will want to combine the show with a day out in the Forest admiring the ponies and scenery. The competition has eleven classes with cash prizes in each category. A top £100 prize for the most outstanding exhibit will be drawn from the first placed winners of each class. Lesley from Brewins’ Bruins explained: We felt it was time that artists were rewarded in some small way for the many hours they expend in producing their beautiful teddy bears. Their efforts provide endless pleasure for teddy bear lovers who are only too pleased to take home a new friend. The competition entries will be staged by a number rather than a name. Lesley from Brewins’ Bruins explained: In this way a well established artist’s name cannot influence the judging thereby ensuring complete impartiality. We have actively encouraged entries from far afield. The time and cost involved in travelling to a venue to compete sometimes makes it prohibitive for artists to enter. We are accepting postal entries and will return these entries to competitors after the competition. Refreshments will be available all day and there is plentiful parking for both exhibitors and enthusiasts. The fair and competition will be advertised locally and nationally.
