This pattern does NOT have any pawpads - so skip any directions relating to pawpads. This pattern's body and arms are split in half into 2 different colors. You will need to sew the body and arm pieces together into their complete pieces before sewing the bear. I have put marks on the bear arms so you know which pieces go together. You do not need to match the marks exactly, but be sure you are matching up pieces with the marks on the same side.

Some minutes with Laura Lynn:

Please describe your bears with your own words.
I like to make bears that are one of a kind or in very small limited editions. They range in size from 3" tall to 14" tall. I hope to create them up to 16" tall eventually. I think they often look a little dog-like - as they have mohair hanging over their eyes. The funny thing is my bears have more fur than my dogs do. I do enjoy creating an occasional old fashioned style bear, but most of them are contemporary in design. I try to make my bears with a look that makes you want to pick them up and hold them.

When did you start making bears and what was the occasion?
I started making bears in the fall of 1999 or so. I had purchased a book on bear making but just had a hard time understanding how to do it from a book. Then I learned about a class that was offered through our school district's Adult Continuing Education program. I was hooked after the first lesson!

Do you recollect the first teddy that you made yourself?
Yes! His name is Edward and thank-
fully I kept him! He's an old fashioned style bear that is a little squishier (softer) than my bears are today.

How do you get ideas or inspiration for new creations?
I love to browse thru craft stores and magazines looking at the seasonal decorations to get ideas for my bears. Of course, many times it is the mohair fabric itself that gives me the ideas!

What do like most when making bears?
I love every aspect of bear making! I like to keep a few bears going as I like to do the sewing and work on the faces during the day. All the other parts - hand sewing, stuffing, jointing etc... I can do day or night.

Do you have a personal great dream regarding the bear making?
I think that would be to be able to only work on bears, and let someone else do all the picture taking and website updates!! Also the paperwork, I really do not like paperwork.

How would you describe a perfect teddybear?
The perfect teddy bear always brings a smile to your face!

Can you imagine a life without teddybears?
No, I certainly can NOT imagine a life without teddy bears! I actually get in a bad mood if I go a few days without working on a bear! Just ask my husband :)
